Insert the Delta Symbol in Microsoft Word

Unicode, Alt Codes, and Character Map

Every symbol in Microsoft Word has a unique code that you can use to insert it into your document. This code is known as Unicode. Unicode codes are universal and can be used on any computer or device that supports Unicode. For example, the Unicode for the Delta symbol (Δ) is U+0394.

In addition to Unicode, you can also insert symbols using Alt codes. Alt codes are a combination of the Alt key and a number code that corresponds to the Unicode code of the symbol. For example, the Alt code for the Delta symbol (Δ) is 916.

To insert a symbol using an Alt code, hold down the Alt key and type the number code on the numeric keypad. For example, to insert the Delta symbol (Δ), hold down the Alt key and type 916 on the numeric keypad.

How to Insert the Delta Symbol in Word

There are several ways to insert the Delta symbol in Microsoft Word. Here are the four most common methods:

  1. Use the Alt code: Hold down the Alt key and type 916 on the numeric keypad.
  2. Use the Unicode: Type the Unicode for the Delta symbol (U+0394) into the document.
