Lecce 0-2 Atalanta: Goals and Highlights
Nerazzurri Secure Champions League Qualification with Lecce Win
Atalanta Bergamasca Calcio, commonly known as Atalanta or Atalanta from Bergamo, sealed their qualification for the UEFA Champions League with a 2-0 victory over Lecce on Saturday.
First-half goals from Teun Koopmeiners and Rasmus Højlund propelled Atalanta up to third place in the Serie A standings, behind current champions AC Milan and league leaders Napoli.
Both teams had chances to score in the opening exchanges, but it was Atalanta who took the lead in the 28th minute when Koopmeiners converted a penalty after Lecce goalkeeper Wladimiro Falcone brought down Højlund.
Højlund doubled Atalanta's advantage just before half-time, finishing off a counterattack with a clinical strike into the bottom corner.
Lecce pushed for a way back into the game after the break, but Atalanta's defense held firm to secure the important win that sees them return to European football's top competition next season.
